I really like the laid back atmosphere of this place. the location was not really in a safe area. The staff was awesome.
I didnt like the fact that it wasnt in a safe area. Also that in the closet was a very large can of Roach Spray. I found out why, when I went into one of my personal bag and found a roach. So this isnt the ideal place to stay even on a budget if you have to worry about roaches the whole trip. Also I felt like something was in the bed with me besides my husband.....bed bugs.. a really turn off on a romantice vacation...
It was just a fabulous hotel because it was uncomplicated and everything happened just as you would expect (hope) for such a hotel. Like stepping back in time in terms of the hotel values.
Feeling at home in spacious beautiful room with plantation style shutters looking out on lanai and pool - utterly private yet right in the middle of town. Very Hawaiian style.
Breakfast could be a bit classier -- the jam is homemade, but they don't tell you that; there aren't as many tropical fruits as you might expect; and it's served rather amateurishly (there are only likely to be 6 or 7 tables of couples, but the waitress couldn't remember who had what....). But these are picky details of an idyllic stay!
The architecture at The Plantation Inn was very charming and interesting, and it gave the place a unique quality, The location was good as it was on a quiet street only a couple of blocks from the main centre. The pool area was calm and peaceful, and a great place to relax. The attached restaurant,Gerrards, was excellent. It was costly, but included in the cost of the accomadation was a coupon which could be used against the restaurant costs.
The staff were a little off hand and not helpful. The staff person who checked me in was particularly disinterested. There was no reception or on site staff after 9pm.I realize that this is not unusual for a bed and breakfast. However, on one occasion, when my entrance key unexpectedly became de-magnetized, I was totally locked out. Luckily there was someone still closing up at the restaurant,so they were able to call security and they brought me a new key. If the restaurant staff was not there, I am not sure how I would have coped.I was also staying at the Plantation Inn the night of the tsunami. No-one was available when the warning siren started, and I felt there were no helpful resources to help guests through a fearful time. The manager eventually arrived ( i was later told) but by then I had already had to plan a safety statedgy by myself.
Location and Gerard's restaurant. Breakfast was also fantastic.
Reception area is terrible. It should be in the front and much bigger.
Great location we had a nice room clean and quite
Limited breakfast menu same thing every day if you stayed longer than 1 week would get old fast
Guests in room 21 partying until 4.20am and not being able to speak to night staff very frightening and made us vulnerable
